The rights of parents in Islam

Allah Almighty has placed special emphasis on the rights of parents.  The great book Al-Qur'an also contains special descriptions about the rights of parents.  The Prophet (peace be upon him) was trying to establish the rights of parents.  The condition of release in the hereafter has been given on the satisfaction of the parents.  Obedience to parental rights is a step towards liberation and good fortune.

The sacrifices that parents make for their children are incomparable.  From the time the child is born until the child becomes self-reliant, the parents are by his side all the time including his upbringing and bearing the expenses.

Human beings are born completely dependent.  He can't go on, he can't say anything.  The mother raised him by drinking breast milk.  The father provided all the materials for his service.  He was brought up with care, affection and tenderness.  Even if they hurt themselves, they keep the child safe from all sides.

The loving mother raises the child with motherly love.  Teach the child to talk and help him walk.  This is how a child grows up in motherly love.  Wherever the child is, the mother keeps an eye on him.  If there is any problem or disease in the child, first of all the parents extend a helping hand to him, become upset for the child.  There is no work for the child to live, study, play, move, etc., so that the parents do not contribute.

No one in the world is born educated.  There is no alternative to education to turn the human race into a golden man.  This educational life of the child starts through the parents.  That is why it is said, "Parents are the ideal teacher, and family is the ideal school."

Regarding what to do with parents, the Holy Qur’an says, ‘I have instructed people to be kind to their parents.  (Because) her mother endured hardship after pregnancy and carried her in her womb and two years later her breast milk was weaned.  So be grateful to me and to your parents.  To Me is the return. '(Surah Lokman, Ayat: 14)

It is forbidden to show behavior that will cause pain in the heart of the parents.  The child is compelled to show respectful treatment to them in any adversity.  Irshad said, ‘Your Lord has instructed you not to worship anyone other than Him and to be kind to your parents.  If either or both of them reach old age in your lifetime (get upset for some reason) don’t say ‘Oops’ to them.  Do not threaten them.  Rather, speak to them honorably. '(Surah: Bani Isra'il, verse: 23)

Nowadays children are separated from their parents by earning money.  But the parents try their best to educate the child and develop him mentally.  The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to his son in response to a father's complaint, "You and your property belong to your father." (Abu Dawood, hadeeth: 3354)

From this brief discussion, the rights of parents in the light of Islam are clearly understood.  Let us strive for the rights of parents.
